Ryanair has announced two new winter routes from Cork Airport.
The budget airline has introduced new routes to Brussels Charleroi and Rome Ciampino for the winter season, alongside extra flights on its existing routes to Lanzarote and Manchester.
Speaking to
, head of marketing at Ryanair, Jade Kirwan said: “We introduced Charleroi for summer initially, and it performed really well, so we said we’d keep it on for winter as a nice little city break.“For Ciampino, we had initially operated from Fiumicino, but it was a little bit further out, so Ciampino was the preferred airport for people, so they’re not delayed getting to and from events or hotels.
“We’ve been growing in Cork like gangbusters, we’re up 85% on [traffic] figures from pre-Covid, so we’re really invested in steady growth.
“I would keep my eyes peeled for new summer routes too - we will continue to grow incrementally at a steady pace, because Cork needs that additional bit of stimulation.” Head of aviation business development at Cork Airport, Tara Finn said: “We’ve had a great year at Cork Airport, and the extension of Brussels into winter and Rome added in too is brilliant.
“We’re getting a lot of from the Brussels route, with the Bruges Christmas Market being something a lot of people are looking for.
“These destinations offer loads of different things in winter [for tourists], but in particular the Christmas markets, which both would be very good for.
“We’re thrilled with the growth that is coming into Cork, we have been growing year on year, and we expect even more growth in 2025, which is great.”
To celebrate the launch of the new schedule in Cork, which includes a total of 23 routes, the airline has launched a limited time seat sale for those flying in November, with fares priced from €21.99, to be purchased by October 3.
