Over the coming days, there are particularly high numbers of engers on services from the UK, , the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, , and Switzerland.

As pupils and teachers at post primary schools go on their summer holidays, high demand for international travel to and from the Southern region, Cork Airport is expecting to cater for 68,500 engers going in both directions this bank holiday weekend.

According to a statement issued this week, traffic is up by 20% this bank holiday compared to the same period last year, giving credence to Cork Airport’s boast that it is Ireland’s fastest growing airport.

In the year-to-date, Cork Airport has experienced sustained growth, with enger traffic up 14% versus the same period (January-May) last year.

Roy O’Driscoll, deputy managing director at Cork Airport is looking forward to the weekend.

“As post-primary schools finish for the summer, we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of families from across the South of Ireland and beyond as they head off on their well-deserved holidays,” he said.

“Our team is ready to welcome 68,500 arriving and departing engers this weekend, which is up 20% compared to the same weekend last year.”

Over the coming days, there are particularly high numbers of engers on services from the UK, , the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, , and Switzerland.

Such is the level of business, car-parking spaces are sold out for the weekend and engers who have not pre-booked should opt for alternative means of transport. Intending engers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before departure.

The busiest day this weekend is expected to be Sunday.
