Temple Bar restaurant forced to close after turnover 'plummeted' due to street work

Luigi Malones in Temple Bar has announced it will shut its doors on Sunday after being "effectively barricaded into our own premises" due to the street being dug up and rebuilt in the area.

The restaurant, which has been in business for 28 years, said they were told it would take a month, but it ended up taking more than three.

In a statement on Instagram, Luigi Malones said its turnover has "plummeted" as a result of the street work and that this "was the straw that broke the camel’s back leading to the consequential financial loss which makes it impossible to trade on without inflicting damage on all stakeholders".

The restaurant said it is "very appreciative of the and loyalty" of its management and staff.
