There are 585 itted patients waiting for beds on Wednesday morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisaition's (INMO) Trolley Watch.

They said 432 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 153 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded hospital once again with 114 people on trollies.

That is followed by Cork University Hospital with 65 people without beds and the Mater Hospital in Dublin with 46 people on trollies this morning.
