A cyclist has died after a fatal road traffic collision in Dublin.

Gardaí attended the scene of the incident on Dolphin's Barn Bridge at about 12.30pm on Monday.

The collision involved an e-bike and a lorry. The cyclist was taken to St James' Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

The bridge was closed for a technical exam on Monday afternoon but has now reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to Crumlin Garda Station at 01 666 6200.

As of Monday evening, there have been 165 road fatalities in the Republic this year – an increase of 39 on the same period in 2022.

The figure for 2023 already sures the total number of deaths (155) for the whole of last year.
