A murder inquiry has been launched after a man in his 40s died following an assault at a house in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The victim died at Naas General Hospital on Friday from injuries received during an incident earlier in the week.

A man (30s) who was previously arrested has been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
