The Irish Road Haulage Association is calling on the Government and Road Safety Authority to impose tighter restrictions.

Figures from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) also reveal how the M50 was by far the most lucrative toll road in the state in 2024.

The new procedure means pursuits no longer have to automatically be called off when a chase goes contra-flow to traffic.

From January 1st, 2025, there will be a 10 cent increase for cars, buses, coaches, and lighter goods vehicles that do not have a tag or video on the M50.

There will be no increase to the Dublin Tunnel toll but cars on the M50 will be charged an extra 30c
