The average arrest rate for all domestic-motivated crimes in 2022 was 33%. However, the figure was 31% in Cork city, 30% in Cork North, and just 21% in West Cork, the lowest percentage in Ireland.

Data compiled from a nationally representative Red C survey of men and women in Ireland, showed that 87% of people believe men have an important role to play in combatting gender-based inequality and violence.

Applications for domestic-violence orders in Cork increased from 169 a month in 2022 to 195 a month in 2023 and 200 a month last year.

SEXUAL Violence Centre Cork’s annual report has revealed that 87% of perpetrators of sexual assault last year were known to their victims. The figure represents an increase on 2019 when 70% of perpetrators were known to the victim.
