Blue, an eight-month-old Labrador Retriever is currently being fostered as he begins his journey to become a fully-qualified autism assistance dog.

The organisation’s new partnership with Rainbow Club Cork will see employees volunteer with the service, as well as the donation of 10 iPads and funding for an educational room at the charity’s facility in Mahon.

Established in 2009, Shine A Light has been described as “a beacon of hope” for those affected by mental health issues and bereavement.

Wish Week 2025, running from today to Friday, will see the charity put an even greater focus on community fundraising efforts nationwide, with supermarket and on-street bucket collections throughout the week.

Darkness Into Light events will be held in 29 venues across Cork city and county, including on Cork’s northside and southside, in the early hours of Saturday, May 10.
