Parish gets ready to celebrate 25 years of Fr Charlie in Mayfield

Charlie and s Wilkins celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with Fr Charlie Kiely last year. Next weekend Fr Kiely will celebrate his own anniversary - 25 years in the priesthood.

Mayfield's local parish priest Fr Charlie Kiely is to celebrate his silver jubilee next weekend, with all the community invited to celebrate with him.

The Parish Pastoral Council is putting on a 12 noon Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 8, at Our Lady Crowned Church, which Fr Charlie Kiely will celebrate on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his ordination to priesthood in 2000.

The thanksgiving mass will be followed by a parish picnic and some entertainment, with all welcome to attend the event.

A native of Belgooly near Kinsale, Fr Charlie was ordained by Bishop John Buckley on June 4, 2000, and he has been the parish priest in Mayfield since 2020.

Prior to this, he served in Glounthaune and Turner’s Cross as well as serving as director of pastoral planning and development, and has been involved with the Cork and Ross Lourdes Young Adult section.
