Three cyclists have been injured this evening in a hit and run incident in East Cork. 

Three cyclists have been injured this evening in a hit and run incident in East Cork. 

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident which occurred on the R627 near Westpark in Midleton.

A garda spokesperson said they attended following report of a road traffic collision involving a car and three bicycles.

The collision occurred at approximately 8.05pm.

"The car failed to remain at the scene," the spokesperson said. 

"The three cyclists are receiving medical assessment for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

"The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

"Investigations are ongoing."
