Cork people urged to 'get on their bikes' for Focus Ireland charity cycle

Cyclists across Cork and further afield are being asked to take part in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle to raise much-needed funds for a national homeless and housing charity.

Munster Rugby and Focus Ireland are calling on people to take on the challenge, with Focus Ireland aiming to raise €100,000 to help maintain the services and housing projects run by the charity.

The 170km Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle takes place on Saturday, July 5, when participants will cycle through some of the country’s most scenic areas. 

Head of communications with Munster Rugby, Seán McMahon, said Focus Ireland is providing an important service to so many people who are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

“The charity depends on donations from the public to maintain these s and Munster Rugby are proud to be part of the campaign to encourage people to come out on July 5 for the cycle and fundraise for such a worthy cause," he said. 

The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle is aiming to raise €1m for nominated charities and this is the second year that Focus Ireland is a beneficiary with almost 75% of the registration fee going directly to the charity.

Pat Dennigan, CEO of Focus Ireland, expressed his gratitude to The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle and Munster Rugby for their .

“We believe homelessness is simply wrong. It can be prevented, and it can be fixed.

“Every day we’re helping people get back their hope for the future, providing advice and information, preventing people from losing their home, or helping them get established in a new one. We are extremely grateful to The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle for selecting Focus Ireland as a charity beneficiary and to Munster Rugby for their ,” he said.

Cyclists who sign up for Focus Ireland will receive a Focus Ireland cycling cap, socks and goodie bag along with a Focus Ireland cycling jersey for anyone who raises more than €150.
