Gardaí have confirmed they responded to reports of an assault on East Douglas Street, Cork, shortly after 2.45pm this afternoon.

A spokesperson said no injuries were reported and no individuals came forward at the scene. 

"Those believed to have been involved had already left the area," said the spokesperson

Gardaí have responded to an incident in a Cork suburb.

The incident occurred this afternoon on East Douglas Street.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident on East Douglas Street in Cork this afternoon, Wednesday 23rd April 2025.

"No further information is available at this time."

City councillor Peter Horgan of the Labour Party has appealed to anyone was in the area at the time to gardaí with any information.

“All I will say at the moment is that anyone who was in the vicinity of the East Village that saw anything should make themselves known to gardaí,” Mr Horgan told The Echo.
