A major garda operation is currently ongoing at a halting site on the northside of Cork city, following multiple arrests and a number of animal seizures.

Dozens of gardaí remain on site at St Anthony’s Park halting site in Hollyhill, which is across the road from Apple’s European headquarters.

A number of arrests have been made, and several animals have been seized, with horses, ponies, dogs, greyhounds, and at least one goat removed by trained personnel.

More than 50 gardaí are believed to be taking part in the operation, with several animal welfare officers also in attendance.

The operation began after 10am this morning and multiple garda vehicles remain at the site, with uniformed and plainclothes gardaí ed by of the Armed Response Unit.

Searches of the site are currently ongoing.
