'I was skitting': Cork syndicate wins €500k after Euromillions ticket was bought in stop to pick up milk

The Cork syndicate indicated they have no urgent plans for their winnings as of yet. “It’s a lot to take in, so we might just sit on it for a while and just keep life going as normal as possible”, they said.

A Cork person involved in a local syndicate who purchased the ticket which won the group a massive €500,000 has said they had read that the ticket had been purchased in the Rebel County but didn’t believe it could be their ticket – until they checked the numbers and found they all matched.

The winning Euromillions Plus ticket was purchased in the Circle K Lakeview garage in Midleton and claimed the top prize on October 8 and of the winning syndicate were in Dublin on Tuesday to collect their prize.

“I was ing by the shop and just stopped in to pick up milk and a quick pick,” said the ticket purchaser.

“Later on that night, I’d read online that a shop in Cork had sold a winning ticket, but I didn’t think it was me, so I didn’t bother checking.

“It wasn’t until the next morning when I cross-checked the winning numbers online to the ones on my ticket, I quickly started to realise they all matched. That’s when I rang my partner in total disbelief, – I was skitting!”

The Cork syndicate indicated they have no urgent plans for their winnings as of yet. “It’s a lot to take in, so we might just sit on it for a while and just keep life going as normal as possible”, they said.

It just goes to show, never forget to check your ticket.
