Tánaiste commends Cork company for its 'forward thinking approach' to staff development

A Cork company, which is Ireland’s leading manufacturer and provider of plastic piping systems, has announced the launch of a multimillion euro training programme to the future growth of the business.

Pipelife Ireland, which is based in Little Island, has unveiled a three-year staff training and development plan worth €4m, ed by the Government through IDA Ireland.

The programme was formally launched this week by Tánaiste Micheál Martin.

Gerard Healy, managing director of Pipelife Ireland, said the plan represented the largest investment in people in the history of the business.

Changing

“Our industry, like others, is changing,” he said. 

“We knew we needed to evolve to stay ahead, to continue to be competitive, and to attract and retain the vital skills we need to continue to grow our business.

“This is all about investing in our people, and is going to be transformational for Pipelife,” Mr Healy said.

He added that IDA Ireland had been extremely ive of the company’s plans.

Launching the programme, the Tánaiste said the Government was committed to investing in vital infrastructure and skills to ensure the economy continued to grow.

He added that the €4m programme demonstrated Pipelife’s commitment to not only strengthening and future-proofing its own business, but also contributing to the broader growth of Ireland’s manufacturing and sustainability sectors.

“Initiatives like this are vital in ensuring our workforce is equipped for the future, and I commend Pipelife for its forward-thinking approach,” Mr Martin said.

“I look forward to seeing the positive impact this training, innovation and development programme will have.”

Commenting on the announcement, Enterprise Minister Peter Burke said the new programme demonstrated Pipelife’s commitment to its employees, while also underscoring both the Government and IDA Ireland’s priority for regional investment.
