Cork native Samantha Barry has been appointed Glamour’s first global editorial director.
Cork native Samantha Barry has said she is excited to amplify the voices of women worldwide as she steps into the role of Glamour’s first global editorial director.
Condé Nast this week announced the news of Ms Barry’s appointment which will see her run all content strategy for Glamour across the brand’s global editions in , Mexico and Latin American, Spain, UK and the US.
Speaking about her appointment, Ms Barry said: “As I step into this global editorial director role, I am excited to harness Glamour’s storied legacy and amplify the voices of women worldwide. The Glamour teams around the world—in , Mexico, Spain, UK, and the US —have done a phenomenal job of telling the stories of women across every platform with content that not only informs and entertains, but inspires action and advocacy.

Condé Nast chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, Anna Wintour, said: “I can’t think of a stronger leader to become Glamour’s first-ever global editorial director. Sam has impeccable editorial instincts and has successfully led Glamour into its digital future.

Ms Barry has been the editor-in-chief of Glamour US since 2018 and became America's editorial director in 2021.
Under her leadership as editor-in-chief, the women’s title has transformed into a digital-first brand while growing its audience and engagement, in addition to video and commerce capabilities.
During her tenure, she has evolved the annual Women of the Year Awards into a global celebration that champions Glamour’s diverse community around the world.
In the last year, Ms Barry traveled to Malawi with Amal Clooney, Melinda Gates and Michelle Obama for a special report on their fight to end child marriage. She also sat down with Sophia Bush for an intimate conversation and most recently brought together the mothers of the world’s biggest superstars including Tina Knowles, Donna Kelce, Maggie Baird and Mandy Teefey.
Prior to ing Condé Nast, Ms Barry served as executive producer at CNN where she ran the global social and emerging media teams. She serves on the advisory board of Goals House and Room to Read and recently received an Honorary Doctorate from Ulster University.
