Uisce Éireann crews have been out carrying out essential repairs following supply disruption caused during Saturday's Status Orange alert.

Uisce Éireann crews are out in East Cork today working today restore water to customers in various parts of East Cork and elsewhere in the county following a day of heavy rain on Saturday during the Status Orange weather alert.

In a statement issued by the utility on Sunday, a spokesperson said that every effort was being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible but homes in the Killeagh, and Mogeely and Ladysbridge areas of East Cork had been impacted by the heavy rainfall. 

In Killeagh, approximately 300 customers are experiencing a disruption to their water supply with reduced water pressure for customers in the Mogeely and Ladysbridge areas.

Cormac Bergin of Uisce Éireann said that heavy rainfall had had an impact on operations. 

"We understand the inconvenience of unplanned outages and reduced pressure and we thank customers for their while the repair works are ongoing," said Mr. Bergin.

Repairs are expected to be completed by early on Monday afternoon. 

Repairs are expected to be complete early tomorrow afternoon. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
