Togher gardaí secure new mini-bus to service the local community

Gardaí have unveiled a new 17-seater Community Policing Mini Bus that will service the community in the Togher District.

An application was made by An Gardaí Síochána to the Community Enhancement Programme via RAPID for the delivery of the bus.

Speaking at Togher Garda Station, Superintendent Colm O Sullivan said: "Schools, elderly groups, youth clubs, soccer and GAA clubs and are just some of the groups that will benefit. Providing this service gives us a great opportunity to enhance our existing strong links within the community”.

Cllr Fergal Dennehy, Chairperson of the Local Community Development Committee said: "The Cork City LCDC are delighted to have played its part with An Garda Síochána in delivering such a fantastic resource for the Togher community”.

The community bus will allow Gardaí to engage directly with local community groups. This free services would see a Garda driver bringing groups to outings and functions. Any group in the Togher area wishing to utilise the bus can Togher Garda Station on 021-4947120
