Wedding of the Week: Couple who met on Tinder tie the knot 

Danielle O’Sullivan, from Limerick, and George Donegan, who is originally from Romania and lived in The Lough growing up, first met on Tinder eight years ago.

For their first date, George took Danielle on a whistlestop tour of his favourite spots in Cork.

The tour must have been a success as the couple tied the knot on April 19 “in neutral ground” at Vaughan’s Pub in Kilfenora in County Clare.

“We had planned for our ceremony to be outdoors in the grass area under a floral arch, however, due to the bad weather that morning we changed to our back-up plan and hosted it indoors in the barn instead,” the couple said.

The bride’s mother, Angela, walked her down the aisle, ing Danielle’s dad, who ed away nine years ago.

They were ed by their close family and friends from Cork and Limerick, including Richie and Patrick, who flew home from for the occasion.

Danielle’s sister, Jenny, was maid of honour, and the bridesmaids were Karen Linehan and Lisa McCullough. George’s best man was Eoin O’Callaghan while his groomsmen were Cian O’Brien and his brother, Adam.

The couple were married by celebrant Lisa O’Brien with their wedding featuring a hand- fasting and ring-warming ceremony.

The bride wore a Rue de Seine gown purchased from Jean Jackson Couture in Manchester.

“I knew I didn’t want a white dress, and flowers are my style and ion, so I was delighted to find a dress that showed my personality and style. Under the dress, I had floral embroidered converse with the wedding date and our initials, and it made for easier dancing than heels,” Danielle said.

The bride’s hair was by Sharon McCarthy, with make-up by Body Treats in Ennistymon.

George’s suit was purchased in Tony’s in Cork city and was kept under wraps until the ceremony.

“I didn’t know what suit colour or design George would have, and he didn’t know I was going to have a colourful dress, so for the 18 months our outfits have been top secret from each other so much, to each other’s torment,” Danielle said.

Danielle, a Home Economics teacher, and George, a social carer with Brothers of Charity, wrote their own vows - something which they said was the most memorable part of their day.

“It was not done without tears, but it was a lovely moment to write our own vows for each other and say them in front of all those closest to us,” they said.

The couple live in Carrigaline with their two rescue dogs - Kodi and Joni - and their pets played a role on the day.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails named after their dogs - pina-Kodi-lada and Joni star martini.

Their wedding cake was by local baker Emma from Oh, For Goodness Cake.

The couple’s first dance was to The One by Kodaline, with the Bentley Boys keeping guests on the dance floor for the evening.

Reflecting on their day, the couple said it was one filled with fun.

“We just had a fun, party-filled day and wanted to dance and have good food and celebrate with those we love,” they said.

“It was a misty and foggy atmosphere on the cliffs and we had some nice waves and smiles from tourists visiting that day.

“We didn’t get a clear blue sky day for our photos, but we loved the misty fog of the cliffs and it reminds us we can still have a laugh in the rain,” the couple said.
